Entry to the tournament is technically free, but a donation is strongly encouraged, since it’s a charity event and all. We’re gonna have a wall of pictures of all the sick kids at All Children’s Hospital that we’ll make you look before letting you in if you don’t donate. :P
If you want to know a bit more about what Child’s Play does, read on.
“Since 2003, we’ve set up and organized Child’s Play, a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in our network of over 100 hospitals worldwide. Over the years, you as a community have answered the call and come together to raise millions of dollars.
Child’s Play works in two ways. With the help of hospital staff, we set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, books, and other fun stuff for kids. By clicking on a hospital location on our map, you can view that hospital’s wish list and send a gift.
Child’s Play also receives cash donations throughout the year. With those cash donations, we purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience.”
Pretty good cause, yes? So please, come join us for an evening of banana peels, betrayal, and booze!
We’re gonna have catering on site, the bar will be offering drink specials, and there’s gonna be a big raffle with cool prizes. Oh yeah, and the Mario Kart tournament prizes are really freaking great. We’ll be celebrating 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and last place.
It’s an excuse to get drunk and play video games, except it’s for charity. Cmon. You know you want to.
Here’s the Facebook for the event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1666654906775252/
Aaaand the Eventbrite where we request people pre-register so we can have a better idea on how many players to anticipate: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/karts-for-kids-a-mario-kart-tournament-for-charity-tickets-46012809552
If you can’t attend, please share – someone you know might want to go, and it costs you literally nothing to share to your social networks. And, it helps the children. Every attendance, every share that raises awareness – it all adds up.
Let’s make this Mario Kart tournament a huge freaking success for the kids.
Or else Luigi will throw some mad shade at you.
